Transformationsprozesse
Die Konzentration eines Stoffes in einem Umweltkompartiment oder einem Organismus wird durch den Eintrag/die Aufnahme, den Austrag/die Abgabe und durch interne Transformationsprozesse bestimmt. Durch Transformationsprozesse verändert sich zudem das Belastungsmuster, und es entstehen neue Stoffe mit anderen Eigenschaften und Wirkungen als die Ausgangsverbindung.
Die AG befasst sich vordringlich mit solchen Transformationsprozessen, vor allem für organische Spurenstoffe. Wir entwickeln und verbessern analytischen Methoden (vor allem LC-HRMS), um Transformationsprodukte zu detektieren, zu identifizieren und zu quantifizieren. Damit klären wir Transformationsprozesse auf – in der Umwelt, in Organismen und auch in technischen Prozessen. Auf dieser Basis können wir das Verhalten organischer Spurenstoffe und auch mögliche biologische Wirkungen verständlich machen. Systematische Studien und quantitative Daten sind Grundlage, Erkenntnisse zu einem Stoff auf andere Stoffe zu übertragen.
