Research Interest

The goal of my research is to get more reliable and accurate estimations of water fluxes on the land surface. For achieving this goal I am working on the enhancement and parameterization of the distributed hydrologic model mHM. Furthermore I am interested in the assessment, analysis and prediction of hydrological extremes. Since several sources of uncertainties are involved in the modeling of hydrological processes, its implications are of interest for me, too. On the one hand approaches like the assimilation of spatially distributed data may help on the reduction of the uncertainty caused by the paramterization of hydrological models. On the other hand the analysis and implementation of different concepts for a particular hydrological processes may effect the uncertainty of modeled hydrological fluxes and states.

Research foci

Assimilation of satellite data into hydrological models.

Parameterization and analysis of evapotranspiration approaches.

Implications of parametric uncertainty on the estimation of hydrological fluxes and states.

Assessment and analysis of drought events and its monitoring.

Assessment and analysis of flood events.

Enhancement of the hydrological model mHM.
