The UFZ as employer

At the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), we work together to identify ways to sustainably manage our natural livelihoods. To do this, we address social challenges, establish knowledge and technologies and develop practical solution options in reliable cooperation with stakeholders from science, politics, business and civil society. Only in this way can we reconcile our social development with a healthy environment.
In doing so, we stand for open-minded, tolerant cooperation and promote a diverse working environment. In order to support the development of everyone at the UFZ, we offer you family-friendly models for working hours, attractive remuneration within the framework of the TVöD collective agreement (Federal Government) and sustainable health care offers.

Our employees receive remuneration in accordance with the German Federal Public Service Collective Agreement (“TVöD Bund”). The collective agreement divides employees into pay groups (1-15). Each group has specific job characteristics and requirements. The individual classification into one of the pay groups is based on the job, its main tasks and responsibilities and the necessary qualifications. In addition, there are several experience levels within each pay group (usually 1-6), which take professional experience into account. As a rule, the respective job advertisement indicates the pay group for which the position is advertised.

You can find tables for the pay groups and experience levels of the current collective agreement here (German website):
