Multiple Stressor Ecology - mStress
Wir befassen uns mit den kombinierten Auswirkungen chemischer und nicht-chemischer Stressoren in komplexen Ökosystemen. Dazu gehören die folgenden Forschungsbereiche:
· Bewertung verschiedener Arten von chemischen Mischungen in der Umwelt
· kombinierte Wirkungen von chemischen Mischungen mit anderen Stressoren wie Klimawandel oder Plastikverschmutzung
· Vielfalt der Sensitivität der Arten aquatischer Ökosysteme gegenüber Chemikalien, Partikeln und nicht-chemischen Stressoren
· Berücksichtigung der Komplexität natürlicher Lebensgemeinschaften (Ökotoxikologie von Makrozoobenthos und Mikrophytobenthos) und der Wechselwirkungen zwischen den Arten (intra-/interspezifische Konkurrenz, trophische Wechselwirkungen, Transfer von Toxinen)
Wir konzentrieren uns auf die folgende Vision und Mission:
Vision:
Schutz aquatischer Lebensgemeinschaften vor anthropogenen Verunreinigungen / Chemikalien durch das Verständnis der Auswirkungen und Wechselwirkungen chemischer und nicht-chemischer Stressoren (unter komplexen Feldbedingungen und unter dem Einfluss des Klimawandels)
Bereitstellung eines MLoE-Ansatzes (Multiple Line of Evidence) und eines mechanistischen Verständnisses zum Nachweis chemischer Wirkungen in ökologisch relevanten Systemen (wie Gemeinschaften und Ökosystemen).
Herangehensweise:
Wir verwenden den MloE- Ansatz, der wirkungsbasierte und gemeinschaftsbasierte Strategien kombiniert. Auf der Grundlage der Überwachungsstrategien der Wasserrahmenrichtlinie (WRRL) kombinieren wir eine "grüne BQE" (Mikrophytobenthos) und eine "rote BQE" (Makrozoobenthos) und untersuchen die Verknüpfung der beiden BQEs aus einer ökologisch-mechanistischen Perspektive. Wir konzentrieren uns auf den trophischen Transfer und die indirekten Auswirkungen durch Top-down- und Bottom-up-Kontrolle zwischen den Primärproduzenten und der/den nächsten trophischen Ebene(n). Diese Ansätze auf Gemeinschaftsebene beruhen auf einer wirkungsbasierten Screening-Strategie, bei der einzelne Arten als Modellorganismen für die beiden BQEs verwendet werden (In-vivo-Tests mit Daphnien, Schnecken und Algen). Diese Vereinfachung garantiert ein Hochdurchsatz-Screening von Chemikalien und eine Gefahrenbewertung von Umweltgemischen.
