Dr. Stefan Lips
Research Interests
- community ecotoxicology and trophic interactions
- ecologic consequences of chemical pollution
- combining ecotoxicology with molecular and physiological endpoints
Stefan Lips focusses in his research on effects of chemical pollution on microphytobenthic communities (=biofilms). He seeks to understand which chemicals can cause structural and functional changes in biofilms and related foodwebs. In his current position in the P-LEACH project he focuses on model chemicals to mixtures of plastic leachates and includes aspects of trophic transfer by evaluating benthic primary consumers such as snails. He makes use of molecular and physiological tools to assess adverse effects on a functional level.
