Eunhye Bae

Eunhye Bae joined the Department of Cell Toxicology as a postdoctor in September 2024. She takes a part of the CoModHaz research project, which aims to modernize chemical hazard assessment. Her research focuses on developing advanced bioassay setup to evaluate highly challenging compounds that currently lack hazard data in the regulatory framework.

She studied in environmental chemistry at Dresden University of Technology, where she investigated modes of toxic action of ionic compounds at the cellular level. Her research integrates effect-based analysis using in vitro high-throughput system and chemical partitioning analysis in bioassays through advanced analytical techniques.

Previous her study in Germany, she gained a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Environmental and Ecological Engineering from the Korea University in South Korea. For her Master’s thesis, she evaluated the mixture effects of heavy metal and thermal stress on crustaceans. Following her studies, she worked as a research assistant in the Cell culture group of Samsung Bioepis, where she developed her expertise in in vitro assay.
