Sophia Bardehly 

Sophia Bardehly (born Mälzer) has been working in the Department of Cell Toxicology since April 2018. After several years as student assistant, Sophia has stated as a research assistant in January 2024. She is involved in various projects including the exposure assessment in cell-based bioassays as well as the development of S9 alternatives as part of the CRACK IT Challenge project „Establishing in vitro OECD test guideline assays (TG487 and TG455) free from animal-derived products”. 

Sophia studied Pharmacy at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. From October 2022 to May 2023, she worked on her diploma thesis entitled "High-throughput exposure assessment in cell-based in vitro bioassays " at the Institute of Pharmacy AG Medicinal Chemistry in cooperation with the UFZ Department of Cell Toxicology. Part of the work was the development of a high-throughput method for determining the freely dissolved concentration in in vitro bioassays. After finishing the 3rd state examination, she received her pharmaceutical license (Approbation) in December 2023.
