Weiping Qin

Weiping joined the department of Cell Toxicology at UFZ Leipzig in March 2021. Her research interest are persistent organic pollutants and their environmental health effects. In her PhD project, she focused on toxic effects and exposure of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Her aim is to apply concentration-response models to effectively assess the health risk of these chemicals.

Before coming to UFZ, Weiping studied environmental science at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In her master thesis, she investigated disrupting effects of PFAS on insulin secretion activity of pancreatic β cells by using a combined approach of in vivo, in vitro, and in silicon experiments.
