Accompanying research on the energy transition in transport - BEniVer
The scientific accompanying research project BEniVer comprehensively investigates the development of regenerative fuels. The aim is to network the 15 technical research projects of the funding initiative with more than 100 participating research groups and industrial partners, to exploit synergy potentials and to make the project results comparable.
The BEniVer project focuses on interdisciplinary analyses of technical, ecological, economic and social impacts. Within the accompanying research, the UFZ participates in the investigation of the competition between electrofuels and biofuels for the fulfilment of energy targets and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets in the transport sectors. The existing competition model BENSIM (BioEnergy SImulation Model) will be extended by relevant electrofuel options. Which fuel paths become relevant when, to what extent and in which sectors is in the foreground.
