Energy System 2050
Aim of the project:
The aim of the project is to create an overall approach for the energy transition in Germany via a comprehensive energy system analysis. The project runs from 2015 to 2019 and is subdivided into five research topics.
Within this project period technical findings from the systems analysis, as well as technology solutions shall be compiled. The already existing expert knowledge and available research infrastructure will be concentrated among all involved research institutes.
The focus lies on the evaluation of pioneering options to integrate fluctuating renewable energies into the whole energy system till 2050.
The work will be interdisciplinary, technology-, institute- and program-overlapping. Strategic impulses for the middle- to long-term development for the energy research shall be given.
Research topic:
RT 1: storage and grids
RT 2: biogenic energy sources
RT 3: energy and feedstock pathway with hydrogen
RT 4: live cycle orientated sustainability analysis on system level
RT 5: toolbox with databases
