Saskia is a PhD student at the Department of Effect-Directed Analysis since May 2019. Her work includes the chemical analysis (LC/GC-HRMS) of European wastewater samples as well as the implementation of two monitoring campaigns in the Danube catchment area. The projects take place in cooperation with the Bavarian State Office for the Environment and scientific partners from Serbia and are an extension of the Joint Danube Survey 4. The aim is to assess the significance of new monitoring methods such as non-target screening and effect-based methods.
Saskia completed her bachelor and master studies in chemistry at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen. She wrote her master thesis at the Alfred Wegener Institute on Helgoland, where she worked in the Department of Micro-/Nanoplastic. Her work focused on the spectroscopic investigation of an Arctic ice sample using nano-FTIR spectroscopy.
