Iker Alvarez Mora

Iker is a guest postdoctoral researcher working at the Department of Effect-Directed Analysis since March 2023. In January 2023 he obtained a grant funded by the Basque Government to develop his postdoctoral research in collaboration between the IBeA group (IBeA - Grupo de Investigación IBeA - UPV/EHU) of the University of the Basque Country and the Department of Effect-Directed Analysis.

During his thesis at the same university, in the Environmental Contamination and Toxicology program, he worked on the development and implementation of new high-throughput methods in effect-directed analysis, as well as the identification of emerging contaminants in drinking water, wastewater and some aquatic organisms. In addition, he also dedicated part of his doctoral thesis to the metabolomic study of the adverse effects of these pollutants on the health and migratory behaviour of glass eels (European eel). In this way, Iker has specialised in the analysis of emerging contaminants and endogenous metabolites by liquid chromatography coupled to high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS).
More information about his research projects, his publications and his participation in international conferences can be found on his Researchgate profile.
