Research interests
As a doctoral researcher, I will focus on the fate and effects of antibiotics on the microbial communities of agricultural soils. Antibiotics and hence antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic-resistant genes (ARG) are mainly introduced into soils via fertilization of agricultural land. I will investigate the impact of manure application under different scenarios, such as over-fertilization and plant growth, on ARG and ARB levels in the microbial soil community. Thus, I hope to gain a better understanding of the main drivers of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in microbial communities of agricultural land.
