Guest PhD Candidate

My research focuses on disaster risk reduction (DRR), human–environment interactions, focusing on adverse feedbacks emerging from these interactions. With a background in sanitary engineering and environmental law, I integrate hydrological, social, and policy perspectives to examine how individual behavior, and development relates with vulnerability, exposure, and adaptation. My master’s research explored the “safe development paradox” in communities affected by cascading hydrological events, using mixed methods that combined interviews, document analysis, and spatial and statistical approaches grounded in Protection Motivation Theory. Building on this work, I am interested in continuing to assess the emergence of negative feedbacks from DRR measures across different hydrological hazards.
