
Bodenstruktur und Bodenfunktionen
Die AG „Struktur und Funktion von Böden“ untersucht den Einfluss der wesentlichen Randbedingungen, Landnutzung und Klima, auf Bodeneigenschaften. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf der Bodenstruktur und ihrer zeitlichen Dynamik. Innerhalb der Bodenwissenschaften ist die Bedeutung der Bodenstruktur mit ihrer zentralen Bedeutung für den Gas- und Wasserhaushalt der Böden und als Habitat für Bodenorganismen zunehmend in den Fokus gerückt.
Die AG entwickelt quantitative Methoden der Strukturanalyse, um neue Konzepte für die Vorhersage von Bodenfunktionen und -prozessen auf der Feldskala zu kommen. Thematisch stehen dabei Wasserhaushalt, Kohlenstoffhaushalt, Treibhausgasemissionen und der Einfluss der Struktur von Mikrohabitaten auf Biodiversität im Vordergrund. Methodisch trägt die AG die Verantwortung für Gaschromatographie von Spurengasen, Sauerstoffmikrosensoren im Boden, sowie Röntgen-CT und die sich anschließende Bildverarbeitung.
