Research
I work in the project “Thermodynamics of microbial turnover of organic compounds in soil” (TherMic II), which it is part of the SPP 2322 programme ‘‘SoilSystems: Systems ecology of soils – energy discharge modulated by microbiome and boundary conditions”.
My colleague Yuan Du and I investigate the influence of varying (i) redox conditions, (ii) biomass building block availability, and (iii) biomass-substrate ratios on matter and energy fluxes, as well as soil thermodynamics, during microbial turnover of organic compounds in soil.
