Research
My research focuses on investigating and characterizing cobalamin-dependent methyltransferase I (MTase I) enzymes capable of utilizing C1 compounds as methyl group donors, such as methanol, which can be sustainably produced through CO₂ reduction. To achieve this, heterologous expression, optimization, purification, and structural and functional characterization of MTase I enzymes will be carried out.
I am interested in developing a sustainable, circular biomethylation process using C1 compounds as methyl group donors within the framework of the CoMet project.
