Metabolic screening in human cohort studies

Humane Kohort Studien

People are exposed to external influences throughout their lives. These influences can lead to changes in the human metabolism.

Depending on the phase of life, these influences have effects on various bodily functions up to the development of disease. Especially in the sensitive developmental phase of childhood, the course can be set for later life.

In particular, the increase in allergies, respiratory diseases, diabetes and obesity are suspected to be caused by environmentally induced changes in phenotype.

These changes lead to disturbances in the activity of the metabolism on a functional level.

For this reason, the working group has set itself the goal of using both targeted and untargeted investigations of the metabolome to determine these connections, in particular the pathways involved.
