Research Interests

I am an avid learner of functional microbial dynamics in environmental setups, especially agricultural and soil systems. It is interesting to do this work because microbes can affect different metabolic pathways in complex, changing, and sometimes unreported ways as nature changes. This is what drives me to understand how these organisms work and why they are there. Using the techniques of omics and multiple bioinformatics workflows, we can integrate multiple layers of data, construct a systematic viewpoint of a particular system, and improve our understanding.

As a member of the Environmental Antimicrobial Resistance Group, my current research interest is in finding out how the structure and function of microbial communities change when antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes are present. I will work with my metaproteomics experiences and apply them to stable isotope probing strategies for better understanding of active community dynamics.
