News Leipzig’s groundwater levels are falling – what now? What does this mean for Leipzig and its floodplain forest? Our department head, Jan Fleckenstein, explains what’s behind this trend and what can be done about it in an interview with Sachsen Fernsehen. interview
New NitrAge project launched: Groundwater age dating supports the reduction of nitrate pollution in Germany How can the effectiveness of nitrate reduction measures for groundwater be precisely evaluated? Funded by the German Environment Agency (UBA), the NitrAge project is developing a methodical framework based on groundwater age dating—serving as a tool to bring objectivity to the debate and enable a reliable evaluation of groundwater protection in Germany. The project runs from September 2026 to November 2028.
