Scientific interest

Dr. Yves Zinngrebe investigates sustainable land use governance systems and incentive systems for transformation of social-ecological systems. In his work on biodiversity governance in Peru he analysed political discourses and narratives, biodiversity policy integration, social capital among governance actors and adaptive capacities in local communities in the Amazon region. Another focus is the analysis of impacts of the EU Common agricultural policy. In this area, he has examined the impact of payment mechanisms on farmers' land-use decisions, the policy coherence of incentive systems, and underlying policy-making processes. Yves Zinngrebe also deals with science-policy transfer processes with a focus on the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the World Biodiversity Council (IPBES). He is active in the networks on "Rethinking Biodiversity Governance", "Biodiversity Science-Policy-Interface (BSPIN) Network" and the iDiv-controlled group on the Common Agricultural Policy. He has also contributed as an author to the IPBES regional assessment on Europe and Central asia, and the Eklipse expert groups on “Understanding farmer uptake of biodiversity measures in the CAP”.
