Leading Scientist (f/m/x) in Soil Biogeochemistry Research

Mineral-associated organic matter is central to long-term soil carbon storage, yet key questions about its formation, persistence and role in plant nutrition under real-world management remain open.

At UFZ in Halle (Saale), we are looking for an experienced soil scientist to lead the 6-year (3+3 years) project “The Stable Soil Carbon Store: Formation, Persistence and Potential of Mineral-Associated Organic Matter under Agricultural and Forest Management” and to build a dedicated research group. The position offers a tenure-track perspective.

Photo: André Künzelmann You will have access to our unique long-term field experiments in Bad Lauchstädt, including the GCEF, shape the development of our analytical capacities and have a voice in strategic decisions at department level, all embedded in strong national and international research networks. If you combine expertise in soil organic matter and biogeo- chemistry with experience in supervision or leadership and a good funding track record, we look forward to receiving your application by 20 November, 2026.
