We are looking for a motivated Master’s student (f/m/x) to investigate how advanced oxidation processes and sludge-based activated carbon can work together to remove persistent mobile organic compounds and their transformation products from wastewater. The project combines lab-scale treatment experiments with LC-HRMS analysis and data evaluation.

Helmholtz Investigator Group on Planetary Solutions (f/m/x)

Are you an outstanding early-career scientist (2–6 years post PhD) ready to lead your own independent Helmholtz Investigator Group? We invite you to submit an Expression of Interest by 23 January 2026 to join the UFZ, an internationally recognized center for environmental research that develops sustainable solutions for society and nature.

Photo: Anne Schwerin  The selection follows a two-stage process: an initial selection by the UFZ, followed by a final evaluation by the Helmholtz Association with an international expert panel. The UFZ will actively support you in preparing a competitive proposal for the second stage. Successful candidates receive five years of dedicated funding, full institutional support, and the opportunity to build an internationally competitive research group—with the prospect of a permanent position.
