About me
I am a PhD candidate studying spatially compounding fire weather extremes in Europe under anthropogenic climate change. Spatially compounding fire weather extremes are events in which weather that is conducive to fire occurs across several regions at the same time. Such simultaneous extreme events can aggravate impacts because they may overstretch shared resources, for example those pooled under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Using large ensemble climate model simulations, I explore future projections of extreme fire weather, their range of possible outcomes, and associated uncertainties. In the first phase of my PhD, I focus on storylines to understand the physical drivers of uncertainty in fire weather projections, with the aim of constraining them later. I am part of the Emmy Noether Research Group Compound Climate Extremes and supervised by Dr. Emanuele Bevacqua .
