Equal Opportunities at UFZ
Networks and Commitment
Gender equality work thrives on exchange: through networking, we can share knowledge, experiences, and best practices, build synergies, and drive structural change more effectively. Collaborating with other networks strengthens our efforts, broadens our perspectives, and fosters collective action towards equal opportunities. On this page, we introduce the networks we work with.

The akfifz is the joint network of all equal opportunities officers in the Helmholtz-Association. Through close cooperation, expertise is shared, resources are pooled, and a strong common voice is created for the equality policy goals of the Helmholtz-Centres. The akfifz's focus topics include:
- Achieving gender parity at all levels with the help of cascade targets
- Gender-equitable personnel and organisational policy
- Reconciling care work and gainful employment
- Ensuring a non-discriminatory work and research culture
The UFZ is actively involved in the work of the committees and benefits from cross-centre equality expertise and a say in the strategic processes of the entire Helmholtz-Association.

The AGbaF brings together the equal opportunities officers of the four major non-university research institutions: the Helmholtz-Association, the Leibniz Association, the Fraunhofer Society and the Max Planck Society. It represents the goals of equality in research to politicians and the public and stands for around 600 equal opportunities officers. Focus topics include
- Election benchmarks on the topic of equality in science
- Intersectional equality strategies
- Networking among equality actors
The UFZ is represented in the AGbaF by the spokespersons of the akfifz and actively promotes its goals at the centre level.
