Helmholtz Innovation Exploration Groups
At the UFZ, excellent, collaborative, and diverse research teams are at the heart of our mission. We aim for excellence in science, in world-class research infrastructures, and in knowledge transfer that makes a difference.
In addition to the Helmholtz Investigator Groups (Standard Track / HIG), the Helmholtz Association launched a second, distinct funding line: the Helmholtz Innovation Exploration Groups (Pilot Track / IEG).
The IEG are a transfer-oriented program that we will use to enable outstanding early-career researchers to translate excellent science into viable innovations and systematically prepare the foundation for a future spin-off within a five-year, non-tenured framework.
