Andreas Baumer joined the Department of Cell Toxicology in January 2017. His PhD thesis focuses on extraction of (environmental) chemicals, pharmaceuticals and pollutants from human tissue. Another aim of the thesis is to qualify and quantify the extracted “chemical cocktail” with bioassays and instrumental analysis.
Andreas studied Pharmacy at the University of Leipzig. From November 2015 to May 2016 he wrote his diploma thesis with the title "The pH dependent toxicity of ionisable pharmaceuticals on the marine bacteria Vibrio fischeri” at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy in cooperation with the UFZ Department of Cell Toxicology. After finishing the 3. state examination in December 2016, he received his pharmaceutical license (Approbation) in January 2017.
