On Sunday, 29.09.2024, around 15 people joined the hiking trip to the Sächsische Schweiz, organized by the UFZ International Office. With beautiful late-September weather, it was an amazing opportunity to get to know the spectacular East-German national park and connect with UFZ colleagues and guests.

The international group – ranging from people who had just moved to Leipzig two weeks ago to German hiking enthusiasts – conquered the Pfaffenstein, one of the most popular rock formations near Königstein. We even had a peek at the Barbarine, a spectacular free-standing rock that used to attract rock climbers from all over Germany many years ago. With a shared picnic for lunch and a sunny coffee break, there was lots of time to get talking and enjoy the outing together. The four-hour round trip fulfilled all mountainous desires, leaving everyone happy and tired after a beautiful day out.

Thank you to our student, Mona Gehrke, who organized this trip!
