Abstract A three-step extraction procedure was applied for the speciation of Be, Ni and V in five soil samples at the Csepel-Island located near to an oil-fired power plant. The element concentrations of the extracts were determined by means of ICP-MS method. The amounts of the extracted Be, Ni and V related to the in aqua region soluble element contents varied between 21-57%, 14-33% and 0.3-14%, respectively. A connection between the concentrations of the operationally separated species and the various chemical properties of soil (humin and lime content, pH) could be observed only for Ni bound to the sulphidic/organic phase, where the humin content and the nickel concentration correlate very well (=0.96).
