| Abstract | The review covers aspects of biofilm cultivation, laser scanning microscopy, molecular probes and digital image analyses. This is accomplished through an overview of selected studies which illustrate the application of the microscale approach and laser microscopy techniques to the study of river biofilms and the results obtained. |
