High job insecurity is a key problem for postdocs. Many hope to receive tenure in academia, but few will. There are multiple reasons for not persisting with academic careers and some of the brightest people make this choice. Career options can be found in industry or entrepreneurship as well as in areas like research support and grant administration, science policy, technology transfer, and intellectual property. We talk with former researchers and UFZ alumni and alumnae about their individual ways out of science.

    What might help in the process of switching from an ‘all I know is science’-mindset to an ‘oh, I might actually be good at something else’- way of thinking? This is where entrepreneurial thinking and the design-thinking methodology might offer useful advice. This workshops tries out elements of design thinking and shows how to apply them to your own career aspirations.

    Die Bewerbung auf eine  Professur an einer Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften unterscheidet sich in wichtigen Aspekten von einem universitären Berufungsverfahren. In diesem Workshop lernen Sie das Berufsbild, die Rahmenbedingungen und die Besonderheiten im Bewerbungsprozess für eine FH- Professur kennen.
  • Arbeiten als Wissenschaftler*in im Non-Profit- Bereich (DE) (Dr. Antje Schultheis)

Der Fokus in diesem Workshop liegt hier auf dem Arbeitsmarktsegment des Non Profit Bereichs.
