As part of the research project AIAMO, the UFZ (Leipzig site only) is testing the mobility app mytraQ editionAIAMO, developed by the project partner highQ, that uses artificial intelligence to promote sustainable travel behaviour. The app automatically detects users’ modes of transport whether cycling, walking, taking public transport, or driving – and generates multimodal route recommendations based on this information. In this way, environmentally friendly alternatives become more visible, and access to public and shared mobility options is simplified.
A key feature of the app is its incentive system, which rewards sustainable choices. Those who use eco-friendly transport modes or follow alternative routes suggested by the app collect so-called time miles (de: Zeitmeilen), which can be exchanged for rewards or donated to charitable causes.
As part of the ongoing pilot project at the UFZ, employees can already use the app to record their daily commutes between home and work. Sustainable trips – for example by bicycle, public transport, or in carpools – are incentivised as part of the programme to further promote climate-friendly mobility within the UFZ community. Please note that participation is only possible at the Leipzig site and currently not in Halle or Magdeburg.
