Outline
The aim of the Climate Protection Investment Monitoring project is to develop and test a monitoring and target achievement controlling system for investments in climate protection. To this end, the question of how climate protection investments can be meaningfully defined for the purpose of the project will first be addressed. Building on this, a concept will be developed as to how climate protection investments can be suitably recorded, measured and structured for monitoring and target achievement controlling. The determined climate protection investments are to be compared with the investment requirements for achieving politically set targets (e.g. renewable energy expansion targets, area targets for natural climate solutions, sectoral emission reduction targets), so-called target achievement controlling, and thus serve as an early indicator for the achievement of climate protection targets. Accordingly, a further aim of the project is to determine and process the investment requirements from political targets and related scientific studies. Finally, the technical implementation of the monitoring concept in the form of a monitoring tool and its testing through initial ex-post data analyses will be carried out as part of this project.
