European Topic Centre Biodiversity and Ecosystems (ETC/BE)
The Topic Centres for Inland, Coastal and Marine Waters (ETC/ICM) and for Biological Diversity (ETC/BD), which operated until end of 2022 were united and now form the Topic Centre Biodiversity and Ecosystems (ETC/BE). The Department ASAM, Prof. D. Borchardt, was significantly involved in the application. With its expertise in terrestrial ecosystems, the UFZ is a partner in the new ETC/BE.
The European Topic Centre on Biodiversity and Ecosystems (ETC/BE) is a consortium of 24 European research institutions, organizations and national agencies with expertise in biodiversity and terrestrial, aquatic and marine ecosystems that will support the European Environment Agency (EEA) in the period 2023-2026 in its mission to provide timely, targeted, relevant and reliable information to policy makers and the public on the development and implementation of sound environmental policies in the European Union and other EEA Member States.
