Research Interests

  • Application of the fish embryo acute toxicity test (FET) with zebrafish in ecotoxicology and human toxicology. In particular, understanding the effect of chemicals on the phenotype and motor behavior of Danio rerio embryos
  • Identification of harmful pollutants in aquatic ecosystems using a combination of bioassays (i.e. FET with zebrafish) and chemical analysis (liquid and gas chromatography coupled with high resolution mass spectroscopy).
  • Development of novel analytical techniques for the characterization of toxic effect in different environmental matrixes (i.e. water and sediments). Prioritization of hazardous chemicals using effect data extracted from toxicity databases (i.e. EPA ECOTOX Database, Tox21)
  • Application of multivariate statistical methods to analyze complex toxicological/chemical data and improve the exploration of toxicity databases.
