Looking Back on Our 2025 Holiday Camp

For two holiday weeks the summer camp 2025 took place in Leipzig.

Whether crafting with natural materials, conducting exciting experiments, or building together in the community garden, there was plenty of hands-on activity, laughter, and wonder.

A highlight was the visit from the KinderUmweltbus, which came right to our camp meadow. Here, the children got to take a close look at insects and learn more about the fascinating ways living beings cooperate in nature. In the “Wald & Wiese” forest garden, they discovered edible wild plants, explored insect habitats, and had time to relax and unwind. Excursions to the Auwald forest, the Natural History Museum, and the Querbeet community garden

Many thanks to Nikola Allinger, Henrike Müller and their team from Amöba - Verein für Umweltbildung e.V. for organizing the camp, to Katharina Klauer and Lena for designing the hands-on program with the KinderUmweltbus, the Verein der Freunde und Förderer des Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung - UFZ e. V. for supporting the funding and to all the other participants in the Science Park.

We are already looking forward to welcoming the children back for the 2026 Holiday Camp, which will once again take place during the final two weeks of the summer break.
