Knowledge Transfer – Collaborate

The UFZ is a reliable advisor, knowledge broker and moderator communicating with a wide range of stakeholders from business, politics and civil society. UFZ scientists are represented in numerous regional, national, European and international committees and expert networks. In this way, the UFZ can make valuable contributions to solving pressing environmental policy problems such as climate change, loss of biodiversity, water quality and scarcity, and food security.

Logo ETC-ICW The European Topic Centre on Inland, Coastal and Marine waters (ETC/ICM) is an international consortium, that supports the European Environment Agency (EEA) in its mission to inform policy makers and the public on the development and implementation of sound environmental policies in the European Union and other EEA Member States. It is led by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ).

Head of the ETC/ICM Consortium:
Prof. Dr. Dietrich Borchardt, Head of the Department of Aquatic Ecosystems Analysis (ASAM)

Logo Mitteldeutsches Klimabüro The Climate Office for Central Germany (in German) has been designed as an interface for knowledge transfer between users and science. The Helmholtz Association has for regional climate offices. They gather and communicate research results that are particularly relevant for climate-sensitive areas of the respective region. The Climate Office for Central Germany at the UFZ focuses on natural and social science aspects of climate change. These are, e.g., analysing the interdependence between climate change and land use or evaluating adaptation measures to the consequences of climate change.

Other climate offices: North German Climate Office in Geesthacht, South German Climate Office in Karlsruhe, Climate Office for Polar Regions and Sea Level Rise in Bremerhaven.
