The Probst Lab is mainly interested in subsurface microbiome functioning and microbial diversity. As part of the Group for Aquatic Microbial Ecology (GAME), research is performed on the following:

• Carbon cycling in the terrestrial subsurface

• Microbial interactions of Altiarchaeota

• Novel carbon fixers in the deep biosphere

• Microbiome of the Antartic continent

• Microbiome of the Atacama desert
