Abstract | Fertilized embryos of zebrafish (Danio rerio) were exposed to 8 different sediments and their corresponding elutriates for 48 hours. Different toxicological endpoints were investigated and it could be shown that this test system is able to detect toxic potential of sediments. Therefore, it can be used as a model for assessing sediment toxicity on vertebrates and should be involved in a tiered test strategy. |
