Abstract In spite of existing prohibition PCP is playing an important role in environmental medicine, because of existing persistence, toxicity and ubiquitous occurence. Because of insufficient datas especially for the eastern German region PCP background levels of house dust samples and urines of children of the city of Leipzig and of the small-towns Hettstedt, Wippra, Roitzsch and Greppin were determined and compared with existing reference levels. The house dust samples and the urines of the children of Leipzig were lower burden than the samples of the small-towns. Most of house dust and urine had concentrationes in the range of reference area legally for the general population. A correlation of the content of PCP in house dust and urine could not be established
