Abstract The octanol/water partition coefficient (KOW) as a measure of lipophilicity is an important physicochemical parameter for assessing the behavior of xenobiotics in the environment. However, often one can find very different KOW values for one and the same substance in literature. The authors present their preliminary experimental and modeling investigations with lindane (HCH), measuring the KOW for the four hexachlorocyclohexaneisomers α-, β-, γ-, and δ-HCH.
