Abstract Ecological carrying capacity is a quite abstract term. In landscape terms, it describes the ratio between the possible demand and the maximum load within the context of ecosystem stability. This term is used in many ways (Dhont 1988). Therefore, its methodological discussion requires precise clarification of its meanings; otherwise it remains an empty political formula.
