Abstract Acidic pit lakes are typical for the landscape of Lower Lusatia. The lakes of a former lignite mine were investigated to find remediation strategies. Hydrogeology and geochemistry of the drainage basin were characterized by collecting numerous data. This study is focussed on the geochemistry of uranium. The investigated waters have low U concentrations (≤ 2 µg/l). There is no definite correlation between pH and U concentration.
