Abstract

This protocol outlines a standardized method for measuring CO2 fluxes from bare and vegetated dry sediments under light and dark conditions. It provided a step-by-step procedure for the estimation of CO2 fluxes, sediment, and vegetation characteristics from dry sediments. The protocol includes the method and techniques for collecting and measuring sediment variables like temperature, moisture, total inorganic matter, organic matter, electrical conductivity, texture, pH, bulk density, vegetation cover, and above-ground biomass. This work is a part of the DRYFLUX-II initiative supported by the Global Lake Ecological Monitoring Network (GLEON).
