Abstract

The concentration dependence of mutual diffusion coefficients, kinematic viscosities and densities in the binary systems Methyl isopropyl ketone (Mipk)-n-Butyl acetate (Buac), Buac-Water and Mipk-Water is determined at 288.15 K, 293.15 K and 298.16 K. Diffusion coefficients at infinite dilution were extrapolated from the experimental data.

Only in the completely miscible system Mipk-Buac were the heat of mixing at 297.76 K and vapour-liquid equilibrium data at 323.15 K and 343.15 K measured and parameters for the NRTL-equation calculated. In the system Mipk-water with limited miscibility, the NRTL-parameters were obtained from liquid-liquid equilibrium data. Using our values at infinite dilution the concentration dependence of the mutual diffusion coefficients can be satisfactorily predicted by the Caldwell/Babb correlation.
