Abstract

Total nitrogen and 15N of urine samples were analysed using an emissionspectrometric 15N analyzer either coupled off-line with preceding Kjeldahl digestion or coupled on-line with an elemental analyzer, in order to draw a parallel between the two methods.

The reliability of the results received with an NOI-6PC and Vario EL N coupled set was seen to be equivalent to that of the traditional off-line system. The on-line set can be recommended for routine estimation of 15N amounts in 15N-enriched urine samples that are usual in 15N organ function tests.
