Abstract This paper describes the effect of urbanization and the modified characteristics of urban thermal behavior and air quality. Several researchers correlated land cover modification on urban heat islands (UHI). In the present study diverse study locations have been chosen concerning land use patterns, infrastructure, and traffic conditions were used to analyze the micrometeorology and air quality. The Envi-Met microclimatic model was used for the present study to analyze the influence of micrometeorology on UTCI and air quality. This study allowed us to identify the spatial and temporal variation in micrometeorology and air quality. In the three study locations, the impact of land use patterns on temperature intensity, thermal comfort, mixing layer height, and ozone concentration profiles were analyzed and compared with the monitoring results. The results found that the micrometeorological conditions were affecting the heat island intensity patterns resulting in increased thermal discomfort. It was concluded that land cover patterns significantly affect diurnal temperature, UTCI, mixing height, and air quality patterns. With the ozone (O3) prediction model, we found that meteorological parameter influence on dispersion and mixing height is significant on-air quality. These results are useful for sustainable urban air quality management (UAQM) and outdoor thermal comfort (UTCI).
