Abstract | We describe a new species of Ophiomegistus Banks, 1914 from Australia—O. rex sp. nov. parasitic on the lizard Ctenotus regius Storr, 1971. We review the state of knowledge of the genus Ophiomegistus in Australia, and conclude that much more extensive collecting will be needed to determine the degree of host specificity in this genus of parasites. |
