Abstract Little is known about the effect of inner-city brownfield re-use on Ecosystem Services (ESS). Can Ecosystem Services be maintained and at the same time new planning projects realized? In this text, we analyze the effects of brownfield-re-use on ESS through comparing the current situation with a potential revitalization scenario referring to the empirical example of Bayerischer Bahnhof in Leipzig, Germany. We focus on the Ecosystem service of regulating the microclimate and combine microclimate modelling tools with urban planning research.
