| Abstract | Due to the energy and environmental policy commitments is the use of renewable energy sources increasing steadily. In particular, biomass plays as a versatile raw material a prominent role. On the side of the heat supply from solid fuels, wood is still a classic commodity which as both in different processing stages and as conversion technology is utilized. Wood, however, is not endless disposal, especially since an everincreasing demand on material side but also increasingly on an energetic side is seen. Thus, despite the relatively high national forest timber reserves and an increase in the mobilization strategies to ensure the sustainability requirements, there are limits of a sustainable supply. Due to the continuously growing competition search for alternative sources of raw materials is already increasing without favouring mainly imported raw material. The possibility of production of wood through short rotation coppices and agroforestry systems to ensure sustainable supply of raw materials is therefore subject of the following remarks. It takes place in this context a direct reference to supply a growing pellet industry. In addition to the initial experience of pelletization short rotation coppices in Germany associated wood pellet quality criteria are described. Among the light of specific conditions in addition of supply the industry pellets market and also the production of premium pellets are possible. |
